My work for the last several years has centered on community-oriented technologies. I’m currently the founder and CEO of Thingfo, an internet software startup. I was most recently a director of product management at Yahoo!, where I built and marketed participatory media tools, sites, and events. How my education affects my work: studying social sciences, biological sciences and technology I’ve been constantly reminded that complex systems are inter-related. Sometimes the relationship is simple and direct, other times it’s complex and non-intuitive. But it’s always there. Recent projects
“phUGC” Participatory Media integration system
I created the concept, built the business model, and recruited and led the team through launch. The system enables rapid deployment of a participatory media ecosystem site with user profiles, blogs, videos, comments, and ratings. It includes editorial management and search indexing, and is built for performance and scale. The platform now powers more than 50 Yahoo! US and INTL sites. Some examples: Y! Buzz (parts of the new service), My Grammy Moment, the Yahoo! Talent Show and the MTV Movie Awards.
